Bodhisattva Sadaksari_Lokitesvara

Western Tibet - Bronze - height 11inc 33cm - 13th century

The lavishly ornamented bodhisattva with four arms represents the forms of Avalokiteshvara that is the personification of the deity's mantra of six syllables ( Shadakshari ) om-ma-ni-pad-me-hum. Seated in the classic meditation posture on a high lotus base now missing, his principal hands from the salutation gesture.  Clearly it is the execllent work of an accomplished sculptor from the Guge Kingdom of the Western Tibetan in 13th century. It has such a mysterious face of the Kingdom – Guge !
