Maitreya is the Buddha of kindness and compassion, a leader of men who rule over cosmic beings and mortals, and as Gautama Buddha, will complete enlightenment, teach the pure Dharma and his disciples will be ten times more numerous than those of Gautama Buddha .

According to Buddhist tradition Gautama Buddha himself would have been to predict the name of his successor, saying he is not the first Buddha and not even be the last.
